CalArk International and Central Hauling Co. Named Best Fleets to Drive For

Little Rock, Arkansas - Sister companies CalArk International and Central Hauling have recently been named to The Truckload Carriers Association’s (TCA) list of Best Fleets to Drive For. To qualify, carriers operating 10 trucks or more had to be nominated by at least one of their drivers (either a company driver or an owner operator), which is why this award is so special.
Once nominated, North American for-hire trucking companies are chosen because they provide the best workplace experiences for their drivers. Companies go through a grueling survey and interview process to be chosen. CarriersEdge conducted the survey and compiled the research data, evaluating each nominee on the range and depth of offered programs, the overall effectiveness of those programs across key metrics, and the responses of surveyed drivers.
Mary Cundiff, recruiting manager, explained why this honor means so much to the two companies, “We’ve been in business since 1975 and have always strived to be a great company to drive for. We have always felt like we met that goal. Receiving this honor confirms that the drivers feel we are driver-friendly and do all we can to help them achieve success. It also shows that we offer programs equal to the larger carriers, that most smaller companies can’t provide.”
In addition to identifying driver-friendly companies, this award helps to follow industry trends and provides a glimpse into some of the most innovative programs carriers are operating to recruit and retain drivers. “This is the second time the survey has been conducted, and the data that has emerged from it has been very useful to the industry in terms of identifying trends and where things are headed,” said Chris Burruss, TCA’s president.
In March, TCA will announce the names of the highest scoring fleets from each of two categories: Best Fleet for Owner Operators and Best Fleet for Company Drivers. These overall winners will be recognized at the TCA Annual Convention, February 28 – March 3, 2010, at the Wynn Resort in Las Vegas, Nevada.
