"We're thrilled to receive this award once again," said Steve Russell, Celadon chairman and chief executive officer. "This recognition continues to be a reflection of the professional drivers we employ. Our hiring standards are among the highest in the industry."
Presented at the IMTA Safety Management Council's Spring Conference, the award recognizes Celadon for having the lowest accident frequency ratio in Indiana among local truckload carriers in 2008.
"Indiana highways are among the safest in America because of carriers like Celadon," said Kenny Cragen, IMTA president. "Celadon has won several IMTA Fleet Safety Awards over the years because they put safety first everyday."
In addition to local awards, Celadon has also been recognized on multiple occasions with National Fleet Safety Awards for long-haul carriers that annually travel over 100 million miles.
Celadon Group Inc. (www.celadongroup.com), through its subsidiaries, primarily provides long-haul, full-truckload freight service across the United States, Canada and Mexico. The company also owns Celadon Dedicated Services, which provides supply chain management solutions, such as warehousing and dedicated fleet services; Celadon Brokerage Services; and TruckersB2B (www.truckersb2b.com) which provides cost savings to member fleets.
