DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Operates a vehicle weighing less than 26,000 pounds with varying time schedules and route assignments.

2. Picks up and delivers bulk mail quantities from Postal facilities, picks up mail from collection boxes or non-Postal facilities (i.e., shipping and mailing customers) to accommodate operations.

3. Ascertains the condition of the vehicle before leaving and upon returning to the assigned facility; reports all accidents, notes mechanical defects, and mechanical failures during the course of the trip, and adheres to USPS safety procedures.

4. Makes adjustments to the line of travel in the event of an emergency and, as soon as safely possible, notifies supervision of any changes.

5. Loads and unloads mail volumes and secures containers in the truck. Uses a portable electronic scanner to make required scans and prepares daily trip reports showing work performed.

6. Makes minor repairs to the truck in emergencies while on route. Performs other duties as assigned by a supervisor.
