CDL A/B Emergency Response & HAZMAT Driver | Salt Lake City, UT
Pacific West is seeking an experienced, dependable, and safety-focused CDL Truck Driver to support our Emergency Response and HAZMAT operations.
This is an all-hands-on-deck position. The driver will be expected to assist with emergency spill response, hazardous-material cleanup, containment, environmental remediation, equipment setup, and other field duties—not only operate a truck.
Candidates must be willing to remain on call and respond to Pacific West is seeking an experienced, dependable, and safety-focused CDL Truck Driver to support our Emergency Response and HAZMAT operations.with little advance notice. Emergency response work may require extended shifts, immediate travel, and working in hazardous or contaminated environments.
We are looking for a reliable team member who communicates effectively, follows directions, maintains equipment, and is willing to assist wherever needed during emergency response operations.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Operate Side Dump, End Dump, and Dump Trucks safely during emergency response operations
- Maintain 24/7 on-call availability, including nights, weekends, holidays, and last-minute travel
- Respond to spills, hazardous-material incidents, environmental emergencies, and cleanup projects
- Assist with containment, decontamination, cleanup, remediation, and removal of hazardous or contaminated materials
- Perform hands-on fieldwork and support equipment setup during emergency deployments
- Safely transport and secure hazardous, contaminated, and regulated materials
- Complete inspections, tickets, timesheets, load logs, manifests, and required documentation
- Keep vehicles and equipment clean, organized, and response-ready
- Communicate with dispatch and field leadership and immediately report hazards, incidents, or mechanical issues
- Follow all DOT, environmental, company, PPE, and safety requirements
- Perform additional emergency response and field-support duties as assigned
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit for extended periods and perform physically demanding emergency response and cleanup work
- Ability to lift, bend, climb, kneel, push, pull, and use hand tools
- Ability to work outdoors in extreme weather and around hazardous or contaminated materials
- Ability to wear required PPE, including protective suits and respiratory protection
- Ability to work extended, irregular, overnight, and emergency-response shifts
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Valid Class A or B CDL with HAZMAT endorsement, valid DOT Medical Card, clean MVR, and no manual transmission restriction
- Must pass a driving test, pre-employment drug screening, physical examination, and random drug testing
- Willingness to complete all required HAZWOPER, OSHA, DOT, respiratory protection, and company safety training
- Dependable, punctual, and able to respond quickly to emergency calls
- Ability to follow directions, remain calm, and work safely in emergency and HAZMAT environments
- Willingness to perform hands-on cleanup and fieldwork in addition to driving
- Prior emergency response, hazardous-material cleanup, spill response, or environmental remediation experience preferred
