Pioneer Tank Lines is a small, family-owned transportation company specializing in hazardous materials and hazardous waste. We operate nationwide, primarily in the Upper Midwest, with a mix of dedicated and varied lanes and limited brokered freight.

Our pay structure is different from many OTR carriers. Rather than relying on mileage pay alone, our drivers are paid per mile while driving AND hourly for all other on-duty time. This includes inspections, loading, unloading, waiting time, breakdowns, and other on-duty work. There is no unpaid waiting period.

Most outbound loads are preloaded, many deliveries are drop-and-hook, and we focus on maximizing drive time and efficiency. Drivers are home weekly, with Sunday departures required 1–2 times per month.

Location Requirement (Required)

Drivers must live within approximately one hour of our locations in Afton, MN, or Kansas City, MO.

Drivers report to and from our yards weekly, and we keep equipment at our yards during resets. This position is not a remote OTR role and is not open to candidates outside the 1-hour radius.

Experience Requirements (Required)

To be considered, applicants must meet all of the following:

• Minimum 2 years of Class A, tractor-trailer driving experience
• Must have experience with a 13-speed manual transmission
• Must meet one of the following:
• At least 1 year of consecutive OTR experience if new to hazardous materials, or
• Prior hazardous materials experience if new to OTR

Drivers who are new to both OTR and hazardous materials cannot be considered.

• Must be able to read, write, and speak English well enough to understand DOT regulations, safety instructions, shipping papers, and communicate with dispatch
• Must have a safe driving record that would meet DOT and company safety requirements
• Must be able to successfully pass a background check in accordance with company and customer requirements
