Are you ready to roll the Maverick way?
Maverick Chairman and CEO Steve Williams grew up in the transportation industry, learning the trade from his father, a steel hauler. In 1975, he began working for Steel Haulers, Inc. in Kansas City, Missouri. He went on to form Maverick Transportation with a friend in a one-room office in 1980. A short time later, in 1983, he bought out his partner's share of the company and became the sole owner of Maverick Transportation, Inc. Today, Mr. Williams and his family still own 100% of the Maverick companies.
Company growth since 1980 has been built on Williams' principles and values of what is referred to as "The Maverick Way,” doing what you say you will do with integrity, respect and commitment. Growth has come from reinvestment of earnings in equipment the acquisition of 6 trucking companies:
Based in Little Rock, Arkansas, Maverick primarily hauls steel, building materials, flat glass and temperature controlled products. They operate approximately 1,600 units throughout the United States, Canada, and into Mexico, and are backed by a workforce of nearly 2,000 employees.
Striving to be the best can be seen in everything Maverick does. The carrier has acquired a number of awards over the years through its relentless commitment to safety, investing millions of dollars in trucking safety technologies, simply because it is the “right thing to do.”
Maverick has been recognized on several occasions by The Arkansas Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), an agency of the Department of Defense, for efforts made to support Guard and Reserve members through a wide range of measures including flexible schedules, time off prior to and after deployment, caring for families, and granting leaves of absence if needed.
